Dine with Dish

Dine with dish is a collaborative event, where dish acts as host to their audience as they share fabulous food and delicious drinks provided by some of New Zealand’s best known winemakers and spirits gurus, at some of the most celebrated establishments.

On 11 October, guests gathered at the very stylish Mr Morris in Auckland’s Britomart for the most recent of our celebratory Dine with dish evenings. The waitstaff were welcoming and efficient, ushering arrivals to their tables and swiftly providing glasses of luscious, biscuity Nautilus Cuvée Marlborough Brut NV to enjoy with canapés. The kitchen began what was to be a busy night by sending out flavour-packed kingfish with oyster cream in crunchily delicious nori chips and lightly battered enoki with allspice and sherry vinegar. Throughout the evening, Nautilus Estate winemaker, general manager and natural entertainer Clive Jones talked us through the incredible wines, while renowned Mr Morris executive chef Michael Meredith provided detail about the plates of exquisite food and how they were paired to match. Spanner crab and Nautilus Albariño 2022 were followed by a crowd-pleasing Manchego soufflé with charred grapes paired with an equally stunning Nautilus Chardonnay 2020. The hints of stonefruits and honeysuckle were a fabulous foil to the rich, Spanish sheep cheese soufflé. The elegant main of duck with blood pudding, parsnip and witloof was perfectly paired with two Nautilus Pinot Noirs, providing an opportunity to compare and contrast, and the meal finished with blood orange sorbet with crème fraîche and rhubarb, and a glass of delightful Nautilus Vintage Rosé 2018. As the dishes were served, the noise levels gently rose as guests ate, drank, laughed and relished the experience.
