Writer/Sub-Editor
We're looking for a Writer/Sub-Editor to join our business team and create compelling content across digital and print channels for our owned and client business-to-business titles, including NZ Marketing magazine, StopPress, Idealog and more.
Working alongside our Editorial Director and wider editorial team, you'll develop ideas and stories that bring business, marketing and industry topics to life, from magazine features and interviews to daily digital content and client copy. You'll have a strong eye for detail, excellent writing skills and a genuine passion for creating content that engages audiences.
This is a fast-paced role for someone who is curious, self-driven and collaborative, with the ability to manage deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
What you'll be doing
- Sub-editing a quarterly print magazine
- Writing feature stories for each magazine issue, as well as content for daily digital channels
- Developing compelling and engaging content for business audiences
- Interviewing business leaders, industry experts and clients
- Working with the team to deliver regular EDMs and digital content
- Contributing to editorial themes, ideas and content plans
- Attending industry events, workshops and relevant functions
- Keeping up to date with current business, marketing and advertising news and trends
- Working collaboratively with the Editorial Director, digital writers and creative services team
What you'll bring
- Proven experience writing compelling content, preferably for a business or professional audience
- Exceptional sub-editing and proofreading skills, with a strong eye for detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to develop interesting story ideas
- A genuine interest in business, marketing, advertising and current affairs
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines
- A collaborative and team-focused approach
- A journalism, English or related degree would be preferred
- Previous agency, publishing or newsroom experience would be an advantage
