Packaging with a point of difference

Receiving gold in the Paper & Board Packaging category was the Good George Wood Pecker Gin box. This packaging was one of the first collaborations between ICG and Soar Print following the announcement of the merge.

For their Father’s Day special edition Big Pecker Barrel Aged Gin (created with “the Big Pecker of the family” in mind), Hamilton-based craft brewery Good George Brewing went to great lengths to extract the good stuff from wood with 15 different botanicals, including Mosaic and Galaxy IPA hops, then aged for three months in red wine and French oak barrels to create a harmony of flavours in the beverage.

Our head-banging woodpecker friends know a thing or two about the benefits of wood - hence the name Big Pecker. There are tasty morsels inside those trunks and they’ll go to great lengths to extract them. Botanicals in the 750ml bottle included juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root, rosehips, liquorice root, pink peppercorns, mandarin, star anise and cardamom.

So we also went to great lengths to create the packaging using metallic ink and UV spot gloss to give this beautifully designed box a point of difference.

And it was well received - with feedback including “awesomely packaged” and “A little bit different, but good different.”
